This year’s concerts take place at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, WV and will feature Bob Thompson and his all-star band. Also joining him is special guest vocalist Catherine Russell and trumpeter James Moore.

Joy to the World has delighted audiences with new and classic holiday favorites for over thirty years. Presented by West Virginia Public Broadcasting with support from United Methodist Foundation of WV, this popular event returns to the West Virginia Culture Center Theater for two nights: Thursday, December 11 and Friday, December 12.

Joining Thompson on stage is his long-time band — Timothy Courts on drums, Ryan Kennedy on guitar, and John Inghram on bass. Plus, special guest vocalist Catherine Russell and trumpeter James Moore.

Catherine Russell is a Grammy Award-winning jazz and blues vocalist best known for her 2016 album Harlem on My Mind and for her years touring with David Bowie and Steely Dan as a backup vocalist. She has also been a guest artist on Mountain Stage six times since her first appearance in 2006.

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 8pm.

In December of 2025, the 2024 Joy to the World concert featuring Bob Thompson, special guest vocalist Judith Owen, New Orleans-based saxophonist Ricardo Pascal, and trumpeter James Moore will broadcast on WVPB TV and WVPB Radio.
